This event can be a lot of fun. The majority of ddr'ers in
the US (and I can say this with almost 100% certainty) are singles
players. Of course the reason most people don't play doubles is that
it costs twice the amount of singles play, unless your arcade sets
your machine on joint premium.
This event can be held in the
same way that singles is done, but the big disadvantage is that they
will take twice the amount of time that a regular singles tourney is
held.
My strongest recommendation is to make this small. If
this is a big event, try to get at least 2 machines of the same mix,
so both players can go on at the same time.
I've only competed
in one doubles tourney, and that was very small.
That's really
all I can give you about this type of tourney, but one more
recommendation.
KEEP IT SEPARATE FROM SINGLES!
There is
one tourney held in California that mixes singles and doubles
together in their elimination rounds. I believe this is preventing
the tourney organizer from getting the high crowds he wants.
